Day 7 of 30
Now you’ve decided you are going to start your bead jewelry business you need to decide how much time you are going to devote to it. Will you run your business full time or is it a part time pursuit?
What are your other commitments? If you have young children to look after you may find it easier to work or early in the morning before they are awake or in the evening after they have gone to bed.
The beauty of running your own business is that you don’t have to be confined to the 9-5.
Remember to tell your friends and family that you are running a professional business from home, and you have set working hours during which you won’t be able to receive visitors. If you set these boundaries from the start, it is much easier to be firm if you need to be later.
You also have to be quite firm with yourself so that your work time doesn’t eat into your personal time. It’s really tempting to think that because you are based at home, you can do a bit of work here and there.
The problem is that if you are not keeping track of the hours that you are working and your business eats into your personal life you are likely to burn out quickly. We all need to take the time to relax and recharge our batteries.
So make sure that you take regular breaks and you have a defined start and finish time. And remember to reward yourself on days where you’ve achieved your goals. It’s great to be rewarded when things are going well it keeps you motivated.
